DAY ONE

  • Arrive in London Heathrow airport
  • Meet Grand Classroom representatives at baggage claim
  • Travel into London for a half day sightseeing tour. Houses of Parliament, Trafalgar Square, Buckingham Palace, Piccadilly Circus, St Paul’s Cathedral and Tower Bridge
  • Lunch
  • Explore the Imperial War Museum
  • Check into hotel
  • Dinner

DAY TWO

  • Hotel breakfast
  • Enjoy a guided walking tour of Westminster area which will take you to Parliament Square, Whitehall, Downing Street and Buckingham Palace where you will observe the world famous Changing of the Guard
  • Lunch
  • Visit the Churchill War Rooms. Explore the secret underground headquarters that sheltered Churchill and his government during the Blitz. The tour will also include a visit to the Churchill Museum, where you will find out more about the life and legacy of “the Greatest Briton”
  • Free time in the afternoon
  • Dinner
  • Return to hotel

DAY THREE

  • Hotel Breakfast
  • Check out of your hotel
  • Depart to Portsmouth to get the ferry to Caen
  • Packed lunch at Portsmouth Ferry Terminal
  • Board your ferry. Travel to Caen as a foot passenger
  • Dinner on board ferry
  • Late arrival in France, board your coach with your guide and transfer to your hotel
  • Check into hotel

DAY FOUR

  • Hotel brekafast
  • Board coach to Caen Memorial
  • Visit the Memorial de Caen, an award-winning museum dedicated to peace. Its interactive exhibitions commemorate the second World War and the battle for Caen
  • Picnic at the Memorial
  • Transfer to Arromanches by coach
  • Experience the Arromanches 360 Circular Cinema. A HD film projected on 9 surrond screens will tell you the story of the terrible Battle of Normandy through archive images from around the world
  • Visit the town of Arromanches, renowned for its artificial "Mulberry" harbour, known as "Port Winston"
  • Check into hotel
  • Dinner

DAY FIVE

  • Hotel breakfast
  • Depart with your guide for a visit of the D-Day landing beaches of Normandy
  • Arrive at the Normandy American Cemetery. The site is about 50 km away from Caen, covers over 170 acres and contains the graves of almost 10,000 soldiers
  • Take part in a wreath-laying ceremony
  • Time to walk through the cemetery and to the beach
  • Visit the Overlord Museum. Learn events of 1944, from the Normandy landing to the liberation of Paris
  • Lunch
  • Possible visits in the afternoon: - Bayeux War Cemetery, - Germany Military Cemetery at La Cambe, - Free time to discover a coastal town such as Cabourg, Deauville or Honfleur, or - Free time in Caen
  • Dinner

DAY SIX

  • Hotel breakfast
  • Check out and board coach to Paris
  • Travel to Paris
  • Lunch
  • Panoramic tour of Paris including: Napoleon's Arc de Triomphe, the Eiffel Tower, Concorde, the Champs Elysées and the City Hall where Charles de Gaulle pronounced one of his most famous speech after Paris' liberation on the 25th August 1944
  • Visit the area around the Cathédrale de Notre-Dame. This Gothic masterpiece stands at the very heart of Paris on the site of a Roman temple. The stunning Ste Chapelle is located on the Ile de la Cité, as is the Conciergerie, where many prisoners of the Revolution were kept, including Marie-Antoinette. Cross the Pont St Louis to see the tiny Ile St Louis. Walk over the Pont Neuf, the oldest bridge in Paris, to the Latin Quarter

DAY SEVEN

  • Hotel breakfast
  • Board coach and depart for Versailles
  • Visit the great palace of Versailles, the centre of political power in France under Louis XIV
  • Lunch
  • Enjoy some free time in the area of the area of Montmartre, perched high on a hill north of the city centre
  • Farewell dinner
  • Return to hotel

DAY EIGHT

  • Check out of hotel
  • Board your coach and transfer to Charles de Gaulle airport
  • Flight home
