Ken Viste is currently based in Las Vegas (by way of Los Angeles, Seattle, and the Midwest!). He began guiding when a Rand McNally atlas and a roll of quarters for payphones were still essential supplies.
"On the road," he quickly discovered an enduring passion for helping others discover new knowledge and experiences. Pursuing this first with the National Park Service, then in the Museum field, Ken built a multi-decade career as a curator, exhibition developer and project manager. Choosing to return to active guide work in 2019, his first trip back out was with Grand Classroom, and he's happy to have been with the company each season since!
Joining the full-time team as Guide Manager in 2024, Ken is excited to now draw upon all his professional history in support of exceptional experiences for his guide colleagues and our guests. Ken has a BA in History (Grinnell College), and an MA in Museum Studies (University of Washington).
Ken is an active outdoors person, with a particular affinity for backpacking, whitewater, and snowboarding. When not heading down river or trail, he's at home cooking, planning his next international trip, and making yet another double espresso.
